Covid Testing at Carolina Pediatrics of Wilmington
Carolina Pediatrics is not a free testing site. When we do a Covid test, we will bill your insurance.
1. If you are swabbed by a nurse and are asymptomatic, we will bill your insurance for a nurse visit.
2. If you are seen by a provider and have Covid testing, then we will bill your insurance for a sick visit.
We have two types of Covid tests:
The rapid antigen test is done in our office on the same day as the visit, but it is not as accurate as the PCR test. If the rapid antigen test is negative, it is recommended that a PCR test be sent to further evaluate for Covid. If you have a rapid antigen Covid test at our office, we will bill your insurance for this test. Fact Sheet
Our Covid PCR tests are being sent to Mako Medical and take up to 3 days for results to be available. We will call you as soon as the results are available, but we only check results when our office is open. Mako Medical (https://makomedical.com) has a patient portal where you can sign up to check results when our office is closed. Mako Medical will bill your insurance for the Covid PCR test. If you happen to receive a bill from Mako Medical, please call them at 919-351-MAKO (6256) to make sure they have your correct insurance information.
