We will be closing the Wilmington and Hampstead offices at 11:00 am on Friday, April 3rd. You may still call our afterhours nurse triage line by dialing 910-763-2476 for Wilmington or 910-777-2013 for Hampstead.

We will reopen on Saturday in Wilmington for regular walk-in sick appointments from 8:00 am- 11:00 am.

We will resume our usual hours on Monday, April 6th for Wilmington and Hampstead.

Now that we have transitioned to a new electronic health record, we have the schedule open for a full year. Please call 910-763-2476 to schedule your child's next wellness visit. The new system will also be sending texts and emails to remind you when your child is due for a well visit.

Regular well child visits are one of the most important things you can do to keep your child healthy. Well child visits provide you with the opportunity to discuss any questions or concerns you may have about your child's health. Summer is a great time to schedule your child's well visit.

Electronic Medical Record Transition

Thank you for choosing Carolina Pediatrics to provide care for your child. We are currently in the process of switching electronic medical record systems so that we can better and more efficiently serve our patients. The official shift to our new system will occur on April 7, 2025. In order to facilitate a smooth transition, we will be closed Saturday April 5th, and our typical weekend sick clinic will be covered by Seaside Pediatrics.

As a part of this transition we will also be moving to a new electronic system for patient communication, appointment reminders, and patient portal. As a result some forms or practice policies may need to be updated, so please be on the lookout for any new communications from Carolina Pediatrics requesting action after the transition occurs.

Summer is a great time to schedule your child's well visit. You can schedule by calling the office, using the "request an appointment" link on the home page or submitting an appointment request through the patient portal.

Information Regarding Measles

As many of you have heard, there are pockets of measles popping up across the country. Measles is a highly contagious disease spread through aerosols from coughs and sneezes of those infected. The disease itself is horrible with high spiking fevers, viral conjunctivitis, and a deep cough that goes on for days. Complications include pneumonias, encephalitis, deafness and in the worst cases death. There is a way to prevent measles though, the MMR vaccine, that trains the immune system to recognize the virus and neutralize it before the infection takes hold. This vaccine is highly effective and safe. It is given in a two-dose series: one at 12 months and a booster at 4 or 5 years of age. Please make sure to stay up to date with well child checks and for those who are not sure if your child is up to date, please check your child’s portal or call the office. If you plan to travel to one of the areas affected by the outbreak or abroad, please check to make sure your child is up to date on their vaccines. For those who have missed appointments or have delayed vaccines for any reason, we encourage you to make an appointment now to catch up on your vaccines. We want to see your children grow and thrive and we want our community to stay safe and healthy.

Walk-In Clinic Resumes on Saturday Morning in the Wilmington Office

We have resumed walk-in sick visits in the Wilmington office on Saturdays from 8-10 am. Walk-in visits are for patients with acute illnesses with recent onset. On Saturdays, sick patients will enter through the front waiting area. Masks are still required for sick patients and family members.
